Once you are settled and are ready to become more acquainted with your community, one of your options will be to visit and/or join the Hospitality Club. We are a service–oriented organization. We meet on the 1st Thursday each month at 10:00AM in the FarmHouse living room and have an additional evening meeting on the 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 in The Breeze for those who cannot attend the day meeting. We do not charge dues.
Here is a list of our main activities:
WELCOME NEW RESIDENTS
We check our monthly newsletter for new residents and deliver a packet about Salemtowne. The packet contains contact information regarding the organizations, special interest groups, and volunteer opportunities here in Salemtowne. If you would like, one of our members will come by for a visit to answer any questions you may have.
CARDS
We send cards to our residents who are ill or have been hospitalized. A sympathy card is sent to the family of a deceased resident. Contact Linda Brown at 503-341-8823 if you know someone who should receive a card.
MEDICAL AND BABY EQUIPMENT
We maintain and loan, free of charge, medical and baby equipment to all residents. Contact either Karen Barna at 503-588-7889, or Dee Mackaman at 503-435-7226 and she will help you pick up your requested item.
MOTHERS DAY TEA
Once a year our fundraising event is Tea for mothers and their families. The Tea is usually the Saturday before Mother’s Day. It is a day to honor our mothers with treats and music.
COMMUNITY MEET NEW RESIDENTS
Late summer we give a special party to recognize all our new residents of the past year. We invite all residents to welcome each “Newcomer”. Representatives of the various Salemtowne organizations are present to answer questions.
PET PARTY
In October residents can bring their pets (costumes optional) to a gathering on the farm house porch for treats and prizes. The Human Society is invited to provide information on adoptions and care.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CAROLS
In December, along with the Salemtowne Social Club, we host a coral group to sing carols and bring in the holiday season.
