by Gerry Morgan, Board Chair

Tom Mahon, past Board Chairman, much loved Salemtowne neighbor, and a selfless and dedicated servant to the community in numerous ways, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, June 13, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

When I think about Tom the first thing that comes to my mind is his absolute love and dedication to Salemtowne. It was clear in everything he strived for within our community. I know he golfed a bit, I caught him in the act on several occasions, but golf didn’t appear to be his first love or a priority. Where I most experienced Tom’s dedication was in his active membership on the Finance Committee, his years as a Board Director and his being a loving husband and strong supporter and helper to his wife Cheryl – who is also an enthusiastic member of the community and a selfless volunteer.

Tom consistently tried to make Salemtowne a better place for all residents. His focused efforts, and massive hours of research and analysis, toward the corrective action to the Salemtowne Governing Documents will long be recognized as a great achievement. Even during his last weeks, Tom was an involved presence at the Salemtowne Community meetings to add any requested information that he had stored in his sharp mind and to stay current about the Community happenings.

For me, Tom’s hallmark was his ready smile and his willingness to stop and take the time to share a few words. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial open house for Tom will be held at the Mahon home on Thursday, June 16, from 1-4 p.m.
