Birders: Salemtowne Birders is a group of individuals that are interested in the bird “bounty” we have here in Salemtowne. This group of bird fanciers enjoy sharing photos and information about birds. <Read More>
Cards & Cribbage: Interested in a good game of cards or cribbage? Groups meet regularly for Bridge, Duplicate Bridge, Poker, 52-card Bingo, Cribbage and a variety of other games.
Cheers: Bring an appetizer/snack and join others for weekly social fellowship and cheer. All welcome each Friday starting at 4pm in The Breez.
Hospitality Club: This service club is a great place for men and women to make new friends. The club offers opportunities to be of service to neighbors and could aptly be called “The Friendly and Generous Reception and Entertainment of Guests, Visitors and Strangers” Club. Read More
Library Club: The Library Club cares for and catalogs the reading material available in the Farmhouse. There is a large selection in both hard cover as well as paperbacks.
Line Dancing: A new activity starting in late 2022, line dancing is now an ongoing happening on most Wednesdays starting at 2pm in the Towne Hall.
Mah Jongg: This tile-based game was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. A group gathers to play a couple times a week.
Oregon Historical Sign Restoration Club: The “Oregon Historical Marker Program” is Oregon’s official program for the roadside historical interpretation signs throughout the state. Its mission is to maintain and restore Oregon’s Historical Markers. Salemtowne volunteers have honed their techniques and developed a new set of best practices for restoring Oregon Historical Markers throughout the state. These folks are joined by others outside the community of Salemtowne to also work on these restorations.
RoVers Club: This club is open to all Salemtowne residents enthusiastic about RVing, camping, or socializing. Possession of an RV is not required. Meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of the month April through October. Camping trips are monthly May through October. Each camping trip offers a variety of offsite activities such as golfing, hiking, eating at a favorite restaurant, exploring local highlights, museums or shops. Pickleball: Salemtowne has an indoor court in the Towne Hall for year round play as well as two outdoor courts.
Ping Pong: Ping pong tables are available for in the Towne Hall for residents’ use. A small group plays regularly a couple times a week.
Salemtowne Men’s Golf Club: The men in this club love to play golf all year round. Members pay yearly dues and volunteers from the membership organize the various activities that are offered. The regular season runs from the first Tuesday in April through mid-October. In addition to regular men’s day play, the Club offers almost daily golf activities as well as social activities. Salemtowne Women’s Golf Association: This women’s club was organized in 1969 to provide a solid golf program and social activities. Members pay yearly dues and volunteers from the membership organize various activities that are offered. The regular season extends from the first Wednesday in April to the end of October, with winter activities in February and March. Read More
Salemtowne Quilters: The Quilters meet in the Stitch Niche room every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (You can drop in to learn about quilting any time during the day.) The quilters can frequently be found working in the Stitch Niche room throughout the week completing a project. They create and donate several hundred quilts a year to many non-profit organizations and Salem Hospital. Look in the window for a current count of donated quilts. They also make and donate quilts to Fundraising Events in Salemtowne in support of the community.
Soup & Bean Bag: This popular monthly held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:oo p.m. is open to all residents. A simple meal is served and the games begin afterwards. Bean Bag is a game in which players take turns throwing weighted bags at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. The cost is $5.00 for the meal + $1.00 for the game (prize money). Read More
Swimming: One of Salemtowne’s beautiful assets is a 62’x22′ outdoor pool. The pool is currently closed for the season.
Video Library Club: The Salemtowne Video Library offers residents the opportunity to check out movies, films, and special feature videos for home viewing. The total inventory in the Video Library changes monthly. Click here for a list of the videos available as of May 2023.
Women’s Club: The Club offers a great place to make new friends and find opportunities to be of service to our neighbors. The Women’s Club strives to provide eclectic programs that will attract women and men. Each meeting is usually followed by an interesting and entertaining program and light refreshments. In addition, the Salemtowne Women’s Club sponsors a variety of local community programs and an occasional fundraiser to help defray monthly expenses. All residents are invited to join in the planning and organizing of the activities, and all are invited to attend the programs and support the fundraising projects for local communities.
Women’s Bible Study: Groups can be found throughout Salemtowne in individual homes as well as a central Study Group which all women are invited to attend. The most popular time for these groups to meet is generally Tuesday afternoons. The central group meets all year and the group chooses each study as they move through the year.
Writers Club: A new activity in 2022, the Writers Club is for the novice or experienced writers to meet and share work or simply listen.
If you don’t see your favorite activity, remember that Salemtowne is a volunteer-run community.
