Salemtowne Civic Association

The Community Safety Committee is divided into three groups with responsibility for the following: AED (Automatic Emergency Defibrillator), Neighborhood Watch and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team.)

Automatic Emergency Defibrillator (AED)
Neighborhood Watch
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

There are two AED devices, one in the Towne Hall and one in the Golf Shop. Salemtowne currently has one medically trained resident who monitors the AED equipment and works with the Fire Department if maintenance or supplies are needed.

The Neighborhood Watch team works in cooperation with residents, Salem Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Department to maintain the safety of residents by operating a Neighborhood Watch program.

Neighborhood Watch is composed of 22 Block Captains that oversee the assigned area in which they live.

A community-wide Neighborhood Night Out is held in conjunction with the National Night Out each August with Block Captains organizing a gathering within their block. In dividing the community into these smaller areas, residents have the opportunity to meet and are encouraged to “look out for their neighbor.”

The CERT team works with the Red Cross and local Emergency Management agencies to establish resources and plans in anticipation of natural or man-made disasters.

Our Salemtowne committee stays up-to-date on available information and resources and encourages residents to be prepared with opportunities to learn how best to accomplish that goal.
